5 minute 5 {Good News}

These are some random thoughts for the day and a quick recap of my week of greatness!!!!
  1. Congrats to Marlene and Keith of their recent engagement. I am so excited I could burst! Equally exciting was the fact that we celebrated with Jamaican food!
  2. More Good News -- Woke up to good news about a new job for my best friend. Congrats sweetie!!!! She is on the move and is coming to Florida. Not only is she closer but now I have a place to stay near the beach and a Florida resident to get me amusement park tickets! LC= 3, Life= 0
  3. Scandal!!!!! It does it to me every 2-3 weeks (we need to talk about this schedule for real). Huck got his swirl on (and has a son), Olivia is back on her Love-Hate-Sex grind with Fitz, Mellie is still a thorn in the side of all that is right and holy; and this secret killing machine dead poets society is up to no good! Scandal you are the only show I watch in real time (no DVR for you, your too important to me).
  4. I want to win something other than merit awards. I decided I really want to win a radio contest or the lottery. Something fun!! I was listening to a giveaway on my drive into work and decided it is time to try.  Show me the money!!!!
  5. Twilight is this weekend and I’m going to Athens, after this baby shower on Saturday! I’m infusing some fun and beer into my weekend. It better not rain on my parade and I need to charge my camera battery!

Enjoy your Friday people (it is the only one you get this week)!

Friday…Saturday…Funday

Another Friday is here! I am excited about this weekend people!  Not just because I won’t be at work which is always a reason to celebrate…I’m excited because the current plan is to attend the NCAA Big Dance Concert Series. I’m sure it will be a great set of games (I know some Michigan and Syracuse fans, plus Louisville has the media interest story) but I’m looking forward to the musical chaos folks! Drinking beer, walking around Centennial Park, and doing what carefree people do.  You are welcome to join me (it is free)!  Check out the Atlanta Music Guide for a list of performers.

*And just for you +Ashley Norris  Go Big Blue!

Other than that, this weekend will involve hiking up Stone Mountain, sleeping, cleaning my kitchen, organizing and boxing up craft supplies, catching up on my DVR, house hunting, lounging around in cropped sweat pants, eating popcorn, and any additional spring cleaning that I can think of. Nothing earth shaking or mind blowing just easy, breezy and beautiful.

I also realized that spring break is next week for my local counties so it will be a quiet work week after a chill weekend.  SWEET!!!!  I just want to thank the breeders and school systems in advance for making it easier for me to park on the first floor of the deck on Monday! Enjoy your family time.

In more recent news, I just tried the GoGo Squeeze apple mango applesauce and I love it.  People with kids you should make them try it!  I’m serious, it is delicious “no spoon, no mess” kind of fun!

I hope you all have a great and funtastic weekend!

10 minute 10 {Break Thoughts}

Getting up this morning was difficult; the rain makes you want to curl up in the bed and eat snack foods while you watch Netflix.  But I have started my day and after about 1 hour in the full swing of work, I took a break.  I had a ton of ideas bouncing around (as always) so in true random style here are 10 thoughts I’m currently having:
  1. I have no idea what my website looks like. Working on a new business website and I have been soooo caught up in my blog that I haven’t checked in with my web developer. PAUSE   Text message has been sent.  In other news, my blog site is just the way I like it; slaving over hours of template changes, widgets, and gadget making, I finally got it there. Managing two blogs isn’t as bad as I thought it would be I just need to fight the urge to sleep. Soon Random Ramblings is getting a facelift, since I have mastered the art of html coding with eblogger I might as well!  Check out my progress at Cordier Event Planning Blog
  2. It is already April! I can’t believe how quickly time is passing! It will be my birthday before I know it! I have soooo much to do this month and next. I will try to refrain from taking on any more projects…I swear! Baby shower and dinner party are keeping my focus for now.
  3. I am literally counting down the days and hours until I can get a new cellphone (25 days 14 hours)!!!! I am pretty sure I am getting a Galaxy (about 98% sure) I’m just deciding if I want to wait for the new Galaxy S4. It may push back my wait time and I’m not sure I can handle any extra blackberry time right now.
  4. My friends stay sick and I don’t like it. Injuries, hospitalizations, and influenza (Oh my).  I need everybody to heal up, rest up, and get better I don’t like it when you guys are sick.
  5. I found a card-reader that works! Shout out to Best Buy for helping me fix what Target ruined.  Now that I have a working card reader my photos from my new Nikon camera will grace computer screens everywhere!!! This reminds me I need to send my family the pictures from this weekend. I’m going to make a photo album and it will be great!
  6. Just in case you were going to ask, no we haven’t set a wedding date yet. Get off my ovaries people; it will get here when it gets here. We might do like the 5 yr engagement (minus the breaking up, cheating, and living in the cold). Besides we have things to do and money to save, weddings cost money, not the monopoly kind. We are accepting donations for wedding expenses; feel free to email me for information on contributions.
  7. I have ventured back into the world of meat eating with minimal meat eating.  I haven’t jumped back in full throttle, other than eating that steak for breakfast on Easter morning (I just had steak no eggs).  Kinda disappointment in myself since I expected more from my stomach; but at this point I have decided to hold off reintroducing the hard stuff until after my vacation (only eating chicken on special occasions i.e. whenever I’m not cooking).
  8. I had a dream I was Emily Owens from the CW show (which I have never actually seen, only previews).  It was weird and I was crying during my shift because one of the other doctors was mean to me. Jackass!!!!
  9. What is the shelf life on hard boiled eggs? After you boil them, how long can the sit??? I ate one yesterday that may have been questionable but I just didn’t care.  PAUSE According to USDA’s Egg Storage Chart (factsheet) I can refrigerate hard boiled eggs for 1 week! So that egg was questionable, oh well, it tasted fine.
  10. I got my hair done and it feels silky smooth. I touch it a lot more right after a visit to the salon. I don’t care if that makes me weird I like how soft it feels.
Well I guess my break is over!  Have a great day everyone!

Time is up...

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Late night conversations with friends lead to early morning despondent me, an exhausted and sleep deprived LC.  In my tired state this morning, all I can think about is a full body massage. Like many of the other suckers in the world I have a membership to Massage Envy.  I’m charged $50 or something like that a month for a one-hour massage that I never seem to use!

I feel a strong need to invest in a personal masseuse.  Male friends this is not an open invitation for you to offer your “services”. I want a trained professional, legitimate masseuse.   I need relaxation in my world right now. I have a ton going on (which is what I enjoy) but occasionally my “burn the candle at both ends” lifestyle can be exhausting.  I seriously just want someone to rub my muscles until they are putty.  I will probably forget this strong desire and not call Massage Envy and book my appointment, but I digress.

Moving on to my next thought; Friends are an important part of your personal sustainability. They are the culmination of energies you need to deal with trauma, celebrate milestones, and meander through this crazy journey called life.  Good friends are hard to find and keep these days but once you have friends that you can trust and depend on you are solid gold! Take care of the people in your life build them up, tell them the truth out of love, help them get rid of evidence, and help them get intoxicated when they are trying to forget.  Friends are important and there are some things real friends should do; yes I have spelled them out for you:

·         Adult friends know they can call you before 8am because you are headed to work (they also work)
·         College Friends are SEC fans (Go Dawgs)
·         Friends actually shop off your gift registry but still ask what you need
·         Friends answer the phone at 1:00am
·         Friends are invited to your milestones (Weddings, baby showers, End-of-Summer BBQs)
·         Friends are welcome around your family (parents, kids, spouses, etc)
·         Friends don’t let friends go to hell (think about it)
·         Friends don’t send chain letters, forwards, or phishing scams to your email (if this happens by mistake a real friend will call you and let you know not to open the email)
·         Friends don’t sleep with each other’s spouses or significant others
·         Friends have photos and secrets that they will gladly take to the grave (you have the same dirt on them, it’s only fair)
·         Friends help you get into spanx (only applies to females)
·         Friends help you pick a theme song (think Ally McBeal circa 1999)
·         Friends know how to reach you at work and never call unless it’s an emergency (i.e. engagement, cheating scandal, sickness, family issue, work complaint, etc)
·         Friends know where you live (because they probably helped you move)
·         Friends over 30 don’t ask you to borrow money
·         Friends pick you up from the airport not just the train station
·         Friends quote how long they have known you in years and/or incidents (the break-up of 2001; we go back to middle school; remember that time at band camp)
·         Friends talk you out of bad decisions or hold your hand despite them (No I told you so, just how can I help)
·         Friends understand and embody loyalty (pledge allegiance to our friendship)
·         Friends use Scoutmob or Groupon (to save you both money at dinner)
·         Friends use the phone or face-to-face interaction to wish you well (FB is for public display and people that don’t actually know your birthdate)
·         Good Friends tell you NO
·        Married/Involved Friends confirm your spouse/significant other is foolish/crazy *insert appropriate* adjective here but remind you that you love each other
·         Real Friends know what Ride or Die means!!!
·         Real Friends love you for you

I know they say people come and go into your life like seasons and that is often true of many friendships. As you get older the qualities you value in relationships and friends evolve.  The reason you build connections with people starts to become situationally dependent. No matter who and why just be sure that you value and nurture your friendships because they are important.

Real Friends stick together even when things get messy!
