Happy Valentine’s Day

Today is not just any Thursday it is Valentine’s Day and according to regulation I have to love you all just a little bit more today.  In fulfillment of this holiday’s protocols I’m going to express my love with grand and impractical gestures!  Let’s begin the love fest!

I LOVE YOU – friends and readers I want to share those three little words with you! Today is the day that I tell you I love you! I’m also going to give you a key to my apartment and your own drawer in my nightstand!  It was time for me to take our relationship to the next level! So there I took the plunge and did it!  I LOVE YOU!

Gift Give Away – Why not give you a special treat I say! So the first person to comment on this blog will win a gift card for $25 to the Cheesecake Factory. Don’t’ believe me…just watch! $25 is as grand as I plan to get people! But I figure why not try something out. If it works maybe I will do more.  First comment wins (if nobody comments I still get to eat)!

Romance – so I have professed my love, gifted you, and now it’s time to set the mood (Bow Chicka Wow Wow).  What better way than with music? So for your listening pleasure here is a little something to get you in the mood!

Anita Baker - You Bring Me Joy- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LONzdmFLJkM
Al Green – Simply Beautiful http://youtu.be/yOxFl4dna3o
Rick James & Teena Marie - Fire & Desire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPikYsi6_zU
Teddy Pendergrass – Turn off the Lights http://youtu.be/DSrEdpW3PoM
Isley Brothers - Between The Sheets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glhdcJ7K3XM

Dialogue-   A day of romance wouldn’t be complete without discussion; I’m a woman so let’s talk about what we feel.  For many of us (even those in relationships) Valentine’s Day is just another useless holiday. I don’t get the day off work; I am subjected to buying cards for people I don’t “really love” and I’m forced to witness people in every shade of pink known to man.  What is the point?  Driving up the costs of flowers and encouraging companies to put hearts on every product they make, it’s ludicrous. Valentine’s Day used to be a church celebration (the Feast of Saint Valentine) now it has evolved into one mass-produced hallmark greeting card! We aren’t even going to talk about how its black history month …where is the love for Black people huh? We have to share our month with Valentine’s Day (boo society)!   Hallmark I want a Happy Black History Month card, ASAP!!!

This is the kind of holiday that makes me think anybody can start a holiday!  In fact I’m going to start a holiday, Random Day! We are going to celebrate Random day on August 1 of every year! It is a day to participate in random thoughts, actions, and happenings. I’ll draft a proposal on this and submit it for your review in blogs to come!

My ultimate point is you don’t need a holiday to show your love for a person, just start a blog and you can tell them all the time!!!  Or here is a thought just tell them.  The man of steel tells me all the time and that’s one of the reasons I love him. Just acknowledge the loves in your life and do a little random something for them whenever you feel like it (not because the calendar told you so)! Now go make some babies people!
